Portland Campus Commencement & Pinning Ceremony

• Students should arrive 45-60 minutes before the ceremony, dressed in their attire unless they are picking it up after check-in
• Doors will open to guests 1 hour before the ceremony
• The entire venue is handicap accessible
• The ceremony is approximately 90 minutes in length
• Flowers will be available for purchase
• Parking is free in the hotel lot
• A professional photographer will capture students receiving their pin and diploma cover on stage and have an individual photo taken.

All students completing degree requirements need to submit an application for program completion, even if not participating in commencement. The application is what prompts the Registrar’s Office to review your file for successful completion and award your degree, licensure, or certificate. This form and additional information can be found on the Registrar’s Program Completion & Commencement SharePoint page (CSP login required).

Once the online form is completed, students are placed on the commencement eligibility list. The RSVP form will be sent to the student’s CSP email within 1 week following submission.

The RSVP form will be emailed to all eligible students’ CSP account (those who complete the application for program completion) in mid-February.

• This form must be submitted by April 2.

Students who plan to participate in the ceremony are required to secure their attire through CSP’s approved vendor.

• • The price will be approximately $40-$50
  • Information to secure your attire will be included in the ceremony invitation sent in mid-February.

The deadline to submit your attire order is April 13 at 11:59 p.m. (CST).

• Each student will be able to invite 10 family and friends to celebrate their achievement.
• Tickets are not required for admission. Please do not invite more than this number so we can adhere to venue capacity.
• The ceremony will not be live streamed.

The summer ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 10 at 4 p.m. The fall ceremony will take place on Sunday, December 14 at 4 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place at the Holiday Inn Portland-Columbia Riverfront.

Honors listed in the commencement program will be estimated if your degree is not yet awarded and may change based on your final grades and cumulative GPA when your degree is awarded.

Undergraduate students who complete 60 or more credits at CSP and meet the following GPA requirements will earn Latin honors:

• 3.6 – 3.74 Cum Laude
• 3.75 – 3.89 Magna Cum Laude
• 3.9 – 4.0 Summa Cum Laude

Undergraduate students who complete 59 or fewer credits at CSP and meet the
following GPA requirements will earn honors:

• 3.75 – 3.89 with Distinction
• 3.9 – 4.0 with High Distinction

Any honors earned at the time your degree is awarded will be printed on your transcript and diploma. If your degree is awarded after the commencement ceremony and your estimated honors changed, you may request to exchange your medallion or pin by contacting the Registrar’s Office at 651-641-8233 or [email protected].

Yes. The Registrar’s Office will review student records for degree awarding after final grades are posted to the student record (one week after the end of the term). This process can take 2-3 weeks.

The university prints diplomas monthly and sends a congratulatory email once that process is completed. An official transcript can be used as proof of degree. We highly encourage you to check your unofficial transcript prior to requesting the official.

Diplomas will be mailed to the permanent address on your student record.
