Sean Masterman

Faculty of Practice at Concordia University, St. Paul

Sean Masterman earned his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership in 2023, a degree he uses to teach others as a Faculty of Practice in CSP’s own classrooms. Masterman previously completed his Master’s in Organizational Management from CSP in 2002 where he was originally drawn to CSP by the cohort models. “I liked the idea of building relationships with my peers over the course of the program.”

During both times as a student at CSP, Masterman says that the people at CSP were the most valuable resources to him, making his education possible. “My professors and the academic advising staff, for both my master’s and doctoral courses, made the process approachable as a parent and working adult.”

Masterman has had a full career, making an impact in the workforce by preparing people for success. “I have been passionate about preparing people for the future workforce. After graduation, I spent 9 months studying Twin Cities organizations helping students build the skills required to thrive in the future workforce like: resilience, complex problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and people management.”

His next career goals include shifting over to full-time educating, something he is prepared for thanks to his doctoral degree. “Over the past year, it became clear that I would be more impactful in helping build the future workforce through academia.”
