Actuarial Analyst at Ameriprise Financial
Nicholas Thimsen came to Concordia University, St. Paul to pursue his degree because of the small campus community and personal access to professors due to small class sizes. Thimsen completed his Mathematics and Actuarial Science degree in 2024 and now works for Ameriprise Financial as an Actuarial Analyst.
His time in the classroom and at CSP helped him realize his career goals and achieve personal growth. “Concordia helped me to discover what I wanted to pursue in the next chapters of my life. I grew as a person both in the classrooms and on the baseball diamond through life skills of patience and perseverance.”
Thimsen had many opportunities to grow his leadership skills, one of which was being a student-athlete. “I played on the Baseball team for my five years at CSP and had the time of my life. It helped me prioritize my responsibilities not only as a teammate and player but also as a student and leader.” In addition to being involved with athletics, Thimsen also served as a leader for the Tri-Pi Math Club, organizing many club events and leading other members.
One of Thimsen’s favorite things about CSP is the close-knit community he found, which enabled him to make lasting relationships. “I still have many friends across all different walks of life from my time at CSP and was able to interact with so many different personalities.”
