Youth & Family Life Director at Chapel of the Cross Luthern Church
Concordia University, St. Paul is proud to be a leader in Lutheran higher education. CSP alum Josh Eckstein completed his Director of Christian Education undergraduate degree in 2017. Now, Eckstein serves as the Youth & Family Life Director at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church in O Fallon, Missouri.
The faith-based education, along with faith-based program options, drew Eckstein to Concordia St. Paul. The small campus in the big city allows students of diverse backgrounds to connect with one another. “I chose CSP because it got me out of my comfort zone. I was able to meet with people from many different backgrounds that I may not have otherwise interacted with. This helped me better understand other people’s beliefs and experiences in order to equip me to be a better communicator of the Gospel.”
The relevant and comprehensive coursework offered through a program with CSP helped Eckstein feel prepared to succeed in his future career. “CSP, through the DCE program, gave me many ministry experiences both on and off-campus. Those experiences not only prepared me for what I would eventually do as a DCE, but helped develop an attitude of service towards others for God’s glory.”
Outside of the classroom, Eckstein appreciated the extracurricular opportunities he had and how they helped shape his college and career journey. “Being involved in Student Senate as well as various branches of Chapel Ministry gave me many opportunities to serve CSP’s student body in various ways.”
