Traditional, On-campus Classes Moving to Online Format Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday

post

Categories: University News

Due to a “Unique Double-Barreled” winter storm with snow and cold temperatures forecasted this upcoming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Concordia University, St. Paul has made a proactive decision to transition its traditional, on-campus classes to an online or alternate format, accessible via Blackboard.

No classes will be canceled and the campus will remain open, however, some offices may be operating with lower staffing.

Student teaching, internship, and clinicals would continue with students following the inclement weather travel policy and recommendation from their local site (https://www.csp.edu/news/inclement-weather-policy-reminder/).

Cohort classes would continue as normal unless they are face to face in the metro, which would then also would move to an online format.

Face to face classes in M.A., Ed.S., Ed.D. programs scheduled to meet on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday will also move online.

CSP will remain open during this time with minimal operations to support students living on campus, student administrative and academic support needs, and rental activities.

At this time CSP will move forward as planned with athletic competitions and facility rentals.

Academics and the well being of our students are at the core of Concordia’s mission, promise, and vision statements. CSP is pleased to have the technological infrastructure in place to allow learning to continue while maintaining the safety and comfort of both our students and employees.

Expectations for CSP Employees

The campus is open during this time and classes are NOT Canceled.  However, we will make an adjustment to how we conduct business during this time.

On Monday, the campus is anticipated to be fully open unless inclement weather prohibits it.  For guidance, please follow the inclement weather travel policy (https://www.csp.edu/news/inclement-weather-policy-reminder/).  Unless additional notification is sent, employees should assume that administrative offices are open for business as usual.

For Tuesday and Wednesday, we have made a proactive decision to deliver service as follows:

  • Essential employees will be on campus (security, custodial, grounds, facilities, and food services).
  • Campus offices are expected to be open and available to provide service during normal business hours. Department supervisors will determine an acceptable level of on-site presence for their teams. Should the weather prohibit safe travel, access to offices must be ensured through remote access (e.g. forward phones or use VOIP, timely response to all email communication, and collaboration with other campus offices to ensure employee, student, and all customer needs are met).
  • To support the employees’ safety and well-being, the University will make a one-time exception for hourly employees to work remotely as an alternative to working on-site, upon supervisor approval.  Supervisors must ensure that employees working remotely are able to fulfill their duties and responsibilities in order to receive paid time for remote work.
  • Employees who do not travel to campus or work from home (due to choice or an inability to fulfill their duties remotely) are expected to take PTO for their time away from work.
  • Classes will be delivered online, with the exception of internship, clinical, and student teaching which may be held per the inclement weather policy.

In the case that the extreme cold persists, a decision to consider extending traditional classes to online delivery may be made on Thursday.

Academics and the well being of our students are at the core of Concordia’s mission, promise, and vision statements. CSP is pleased to have the technological infrastructure in place to allow learning to continue while maintaining the safety and comfort of both our students and employees.
