Dr. John Braun Joins the Department of Doctoral Studies in Education at CSP

Concordia University St. Paul is pleased to announce Dr. John Braun will be joining the Department of Doctoral Studies in Education faculty for the start of the 2019-20 school year.  Dr. Braun recently completed his administrative career with the Lakeville School District where he served as both an elementary principal and high school principal for a total of 29 years.  He has also been an active adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Education for St. Mary’s University of Minnesota since 1999.

Braun will begin his faculty duties at the start of the 2019-20 school year.  “I am tremendously excited and honored to join the Education Leadership Faculty at CSP,” he shared. “It is a great opportunity and responsibility to prepare our next generation of leaders in a personalized and effective manner that will equip them with the leadership skills necessary to successfully lead their organizations.”

Dr. Ric Dressen, chair of the department, noted that Braun was the interview committee’s top choice from a selection pool of over 25 candidates.  

“John will be a wonderful addition to our department’s team with his wealth of experience as a practitioner and extensive participation as a graduate school instructor,” Dressen stated. “I know our department will draw on his expertise in the continuous improvement process and team-building to advance the programming we provide both our doctorate and educational specialist students.”

Braun’s leadership training at the master’s and doctorate level were completed at the University of St. Thomas  He was an elementary teacher prior to beginning his principalship duties.  

CSP’s Educational Leadership program offers Educational Specialist and Doctorate in Education degrees through an online delivery model, which focuses on the leadership development of the individual graduate student.  Over 200 students are involved in the program.
