Concordia University, St. Paul announced the Elevate the Promise fundraising campaign on March 15 during a special event on its St. Paul campus. A total of $41.4 million has been raised (as of March 1, 2024) toward the $55 million goal.

Elevate the Promise is a comprehensive, multi-year campaign, meaning each gift given to the university during the campaign is counted toward the overall goal. The campaign brings special focus to CSP’s affordability initiatives, invigorates a wide range of retention initiatives, bolsters existing and launches new academic programs, and will help empower more students to graduate and live out their vocations wherever God calls them.

“I praise God, from whom all blessings flow, and our generous donors for the success thus far of Elevate the Promise,” says the Rev. Dr. Brian L. Friedrich, CSP’s president. “The generosity of our alumni and friends underscores their commitment to ensuring a sustainable and vibrant Christ-centered Lutheran higher education.”

The campaign formally began in July 2020 during a quiet phase in which the campaign theme and priorities were tested among Board of Regents and President’s Advisory Council members, donors, alumni, and other friends of the university. Along with those efforts, CSP also realigned and refocused its university advancement work to build capacity for increased fundraising.

During the quiet phase, CSP experienced a steady growth in year-over-year fundraising efforts in addition to the largest gift in its history. The foundation laid during the first three-plus years of Elevate the Promise sets the stage for success in the second half of the campaign.

“I invite all those who love CSP to consider how they might participate in Elevate the Promise,” Friedrich says. “Beyond making gifts of any size, I invite you to pray for CSP and share the CSP story with others who may also be passionate about our mission and desire to support our work.”
