Reset 2.0: The Details

Read a quick rundown on CSP’s Tuition Reset 2.0 and how we’re reaffirming our commitment to students.

  • CSP is implementing a second tuition reset, reducing on-campus undergraduate tuition by $5,500 to $21,700 for traditional, on-campus students. The previously proposed tuition for the 2027–28 academic year was $28,150.

  • The tuition reset was announced on September 9, 2026, and the new tuition rate will take effect beginning in fall 2027.

  • CSP has uniquely positioned itself to offer a second tuition reset through growth spurred by 2013’s reset, multiple new revenue streams, and strategic financial decisions.

In the decade-plus following CSP’s first tuition reset, enrollment across all modalities and student types has shown exceptional growth. Enrollment expansion has been especially evident in student populations that directly benefited from the reset. First-generation students now represent 36.6% of the student population, up from 24.1% in 2012 (CSP Institutional Research). The overall growth of the university has enabled the financial maneuverability to aggressively reprice our tuition once again, starting in fall 2027.

Another large portion of the university’s growth and revenue was born out of the introduction of CSP Global in 2023. Global houses the institution’s career-focused, flexible learning options, which now span over 40 programs across three national locations in St. Paul, Portland, and Denver. Global’s primary driver has been its proven healthcare offerings. Nursing and Physical Therapy have led the way, and will soon be joined by a new Physician Assistant program launching in January 2027.

Instead of enacting a complex, high-discount model, CSP is cutting the red tape by lowering tuition and displaying a clear sticker price. Full-time undergraduates at other Minnesota Private College Council (MPCC) member schools have to sift through a 59.4% discount rate on average, muddying the waters regarding the true affordability of a degree (MPCC 2025). By sticking with its core financial doctrines, CSP can offer a clear pricing framework that’s easy for students and families to understand and afford.

  • By launching Tuition Reset 2.0, CSP is reaffirming its commitment to student success and continuing to lead the national conversation on affordability in higher education.

When resetting tuition the first time in 2013, our vision was clear: provide an accessible, reasonably priced, high-quality education that prepared students for personal and professional success. The pursuit of those goals led to strong annual enrollment growth, a new division with CSP Global, and increased student metrics across the board.

Lowering tuition ensures that CSP will continue to be accessible for all students by removing financial barriers. By resetting tuition, every financial aid dollar goes 25% further. Our commitment to accessibility was recognized when we were ranked the top private university in Minnesota on the Social Mobility Index (SMI). A positive SMI ranking is crucial to supporting students from all backgrounds, since accessibility declines as tuition increases.

Tuition Reset 2.0 was also driven by CSP’s vision of affordable, valuable degrees outside our institution and across the higher education landscape. Rather than exclusivity, we hope this radical repricing sets the benchmark for other institutions to follow. As the future of higher education becomes unaffordable for many, CSP is bucking the trends by slashing tuition and putting students first.
