Campus closed Tuesday, January 7, due to weather

Concordia University, St. Paul's campus will be closed for a second day on Tuesday, January 7 due to the continuation of sub-zero temperatures and dangerous wind-chills impacting the state. Xcel Energy has asked Concordia to enter an energy restriction in order to conserve critical resources to maintain a stable power-grid to keep the homes and businesses around the Twin Cities. As a result heating and power at the university is being run minimally to ensure resources are available to those who need it most during this weather. Because of this closure, employees should not report physically for work on Tuesday. Concordia is fortunate to have a rich technological environment allowing many employees to connect remotely in order to accomplish essential tasks through VPN, email, and WebEx conferences.  Hourly employees will be compensated at normal rates.  There are currently no face-to-face courses scheduled; however, courses that occur online will continue as scheduled. Departments should do their best to ensure that critical work is accomplished and reschedule Monday and Tuesday activities to later in the week in order to accommodate this closure. Campus will be open for regular business on Wednesday at normal hours of operation.

Faculty, Staff, and Students are encouraged to register for E2Campus, the campus emergency communication tool, in order to receive urgent campus communications via text messages. Messages sent through E2Campus are related to weather closures, snow emergencies, and security notices.
