Graphic Design Professor John DuFresne Joins Concordia's Department of Art & Design

DuFresne Brings 25 Years of Experience in the Visual Arts

John DuFresne, a prominent local graphic design professor and professional, will join Concordia University, St. Paul as a full-time faculty member in its graphic design program. DuFresne brings 25 years of experience in the visual arts to Concordia, including building award-winning design programs at two previous academic institutions.

Prior to his arrival at Concordia University, DuFresne served as Chair of the graphic design program at St. Paul’s College of Visual Arts, where he had been a faculty member since 1995. DuFresne was awarded the prestigious AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) Minnesota Fellow Award in 2012, which is the highest honor an AIGA chapter presents to one of its members.

“John’s experience building incredibly successful design programs and his established reputation of excellence will be transformational for our students,” said Stephanie Hunder, Chair of Concordia’s Department of Art and Design.

DuFresne taught all levels of graphic design at the University of Wisconsin-Stout from 1988-95. Before beginning his teaching tenure he was Senior Designer for Norwest Corporation (now Wells Fargo) and owned and operated Pig’s Eye Design in St. Paul.

"Concordia is well positioned, and impressively receptive, to growing a program responsive to the high expectations of a demanding creative profession," DuFresne said.
