Middle school-aged students with interests in signing and music have the opportunity to improve their vocal skills by registering for the Lutheran Music Program’s (LMP) Middle School Choral Camp July 23-27 at Concordia University, St. Paul.
Dr. David Mennicke, Concordia’s Director of Choral Studies since 1989, will lead the five-day program, which is designed to engage fun and interactive learning with music. Activities include daily vocal warm-ups, games, reading sessions and choir rehearsals. Students will showcase what they’ve learned by performing an informal concert on the camp’s final day.
All Twin Cities area middle school students (completing grades 5th through 8th) are invited to participate in the camp. Tuition is $200 and includes all music materials and fees, lunch each day and a camp T-shirt. No audition is necessary. The camp will meet daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Concordia campus. Singers of all abilities and faith backgrounds are encouraged to register.
The LMP, an independent music education and performance organization, has partnered with various organizations since 2008 to provide similar middle school choral programs throughout Minnesota.
