Theology professor Rev. Dr. David Lumpp has been appointed as the fifth Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Concordia University, St. Paul, as announced by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Lonn Maly. The appointment comes at the end of a three-month search process that included both internal and external candidates and is effective January 1, 2012.
“We were blessed to have a very strong group of finalists for this position,” said Maly. “David Lumpp is a nationally recognized scholar and educator and has demonstrated his ability to be a leader on the Concordia campus. He is the right choice at this time for the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. These are truly exciting times at Concordia University and I am pleased that Dr. Lumpp will be a part of the leadership team.”
Lumpp has been on the faculty at Concordia since 1990. He holds the position of Professor of Theology and has been serving as the Dean of the College of Vocation and Ministry since 2007.
The university will also be moving forward with the process of integrating the Department of Religion and Theology and the Department of Christian Ministry back into the College of Arts and Sciences.
