The Golden Bear volleyball team won its fifth straight NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday, Nov. 3, becoming the first volleyball squad in NCAA history to win the title five consecutive years. The win came at the cost of tournament host, #1-ranked and then undefeated Cal State San Bernardino. This is the second time that Concordia has defeated the Coyotes for the national title and the fourth straight year the CU has ended CSUSB's season.
Concordia entered Saturday's match ranked #3 nationally. They finish the season with a 34-2 overall record. The only losses for Concordia came against NSIC conference opponents, proving yet again that the Golden Bears compete in one of the finest conferences in the nation. The team had five players named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team following the conclusion of the championship win, as well as four players named All-Americans the previous week.
