A: The only way for you to know is to ask your student. Concordia must comply with state and federal data privacy regulations. There are some exceptions, but we won’t always be able to answer all your questions, unless your son or daughter signs a waiver.  

A: Concordia’s Security Department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, conducting regular campus and neighborhood patrols to ensure the personal safety of everyone on campus and to prevent criminal behavior. The annual campus crime report has shown very low levels of crime. Concordia offers a Student Escort Service to act as a watchguard of personal safety while on campus or in the neighborhood community. Escorts are available 24 hours a day and are performed by a uniformed security officer(s), who is in contact with a dispatcher. There is no charge for the service.

A. Concordia continues to be one of the greatest values in Minnesota private colleges. Beginning the fall of 2013, all traditional students will see the published tuition price drop by $10,000 to what it was a decade ago (down to $19,700 from $29,700). Room and board prices will be frozen at 2012-13 levels. Visit the Financial Aid Office for the most current tuition information.

A. Yes. In fact, 100% percent of full-time, first-year students who apply for financial aid receive some form of assistance (including scholarships, grants, loans and work study). The average award for fall 2012 freshmen was $28,458. Total financial assistance at Concordia exceeds $50 million from all sources.   

A. There are all kinds of jobs for Concordia students – on campus, off campus, internships and more. All students are eligible to work on campus regardless of financial need. A great place for students to start their search for on- and off-campus job openings is at the Job Fair during Welcome Week. Students interested in an internship that also earns academic credit can work with Career Services or their department chairs to find the perfect placement during their junior or senior year. 

A: Concordia has more than 50 clubs and organizations! Your student can fuel their passion, strengthen marketable skills, make new friends and create lasting memories. A list of student organizations is available online.  

A: The best thing you can do is give them time to adjust. They are encouraged to speak with their RA. Professors, academic advisors, clergy, and the counseling center are also available.

A: Student Health Services is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and is staffed by a registered nurse. In the case of emergencies, students are instructed to go to Regions Hospital, located 4 miles east on Interstate 94, at University Ave. and Jackson St. 

A. We all need a little help sometimes. Concordia's Counseling Services provides emotional/mental health therapy and support. Academic Advising, Tutoring Services, Student Support Services, Disability Services and Veterans Affairs are academic resource areas for your student. If your student lives in a residence hall, the RAs and/or Hall Director can be a great resource, too.

A: There are many shopping and entertainment options within walking distance to campus. Additionally, Concordia is located along several Metro Transit bus routes and is just blocks away from the light rail connecting the downtowns of St. Paul and Minneapolis, scheduled to begin service in 2014. If your child chooses to bring a car, a parking permit from Campus Security is required and is free of charge.

A: Concordia is a laptop campus, providing a laptop computer to all full-time traditional students. Students are free to purchase and use their own personal computers, if desired. We have wireless and broadband Internet available campus-wide, as well as printing stations throughout campus.
