About Matthew Vraa
Matthew L. Vraa, PT, DPT, MBA, OCS is the Director of Clinical Education for Concordia University, St. Paul’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He is a graduate of Carroll College’s Master of Physical Therapy program in Waukesha, Wis., in 2002. He has subsequently earned his Master in Business Administration (Healthcare Finance) in 2009 from Argosy University in St. Paul, Minn. and earned his Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2012 from Regis University in Denver, Colo.
Dr. Vraa has had extensive orthopedic physical therapy practice with emphasis in management of clients with chronic spinal and extremity pain conditions. He has collaborated with interventional and non-interventional physicians in their practice locations helping facilitate diagnostics and expedite optimum outcomes through coordination of care. Dr. Vraa uses a cognitive-behavioral approach with varying manual therapy techniques and evaluation methods.
Dr. Vraa has held the position of Program Director for the Indian Hill College Physical Therapist Assistant and Therapeutic Massage Programs in Ottumwa, Iowa. While he was there, he taught patient management skills, kinesiology, therapeutic exercise, neurology and capstone courses. He has also held an adjunct teaching position at Concordia University, St. Paul in its Kinesiology and Health Sciences division for the last two years teaching Healthcare Finance. Dr. Vraa also has spoken for medical device companies, guest lectured, and instructed in continuing education courses at various locations around the country.

Dr. Vraa’s research interests include High Velocity-Low Amplitude spinal manipulation, Dry Needling, and Electromyography (EMG) / Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) testing.
