Concordia University to have classes in Burnsville
South metro residents will have a new opportunity to earn college credit closer to home, thanks to a partnership between Concordia University, the City of Burnsville and Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191.
The university will offer classes and degree programs, starting in early 2009, from the Diamondhead Education Center in Burnsville's Heart of the City.
The center, at 308 W. Burnsville Parkway, is the site of a remodeled shopping mall and has been used since 1994 by Burnsville High School seniors. Those same students will have more post-secondary education options through Concordia.
In addition, the college will offer master's (including MBA) bachelor's and associate degrees.
"This partnership will help our residents improve their employment status and their financial situation," said Mayor Elizabeth Kautz, a driving force behind the deal, in a news release. "The time is right for this partnership."
