"I've made friends for life."
While learning how to be an excellent classroom teacher is the focus for Katie's life at Concordia, there is little doubt that people are what make the school really special.
"I live with 18 girls on my residence hall floor - we are so close! I can't believe the great friendships I've made living on campus," she says.
"My friends in the dorm come from all over the country, but we try to get together at least once every summer to camp. I look forward to it every year."
Such close friendships extend beyond the residence hall.
"The professors are great people to talk to in and out of class just for fun. They take the time to meet with me if I don't understand something or if I need to talk. They genuinely care."
